Come join us for the second annual Run for Wildlife Half Marathon. A beautiful run beginning at Sugar Mountain and proceeding through Banner Elk, Lees McRae College's Campus, Matney, and ending back in Banner Elk at the Best Western Mtn Lodge where there will be live entertainment as you cross the finish line. This is a challenging run with a couple of steep hill climbs. The finale of the run is downhill with beautiful vistas if you can raise your head to look. The race takes place at an average altitude of 3500 ft. Prizes will be awarded in several categories. A runners luncheon will be available at the hotel after the race.
This year we will also be offering a 5K that will begin at the Best Western at 9:30am, go through Lees McRae's campus, downtown Banner Elk, and finish at the Best Western. All participants of the 5K will receive a tee-shirt and can attend the runners luncheon. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Men and Women's Division.
All proceeds will benefit Lees McRae's Blue Ridge Wildlife Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, and research. Registration will be from 12pm until 7pm on Friday April 11, 2014 at the Best Western Mountain Lodge in Banner Elk, NC.
